Export Options
When you export a 3D object in 3DS, DXF, Lightwave, Alembic, OBJ, or VRML format, the Export Options dialog presents several options as follows:
Export Options dialog.
- Export object groups for each body part: Exports group names for each body part included in the exported object. (This option is disabled for OBJ format, but enabled for 3DS, DXF, Lightwave, and VRML export).
- Weld body part seams: (OBJ Export only) When checked, welds groups together where one body part meets another, and discards the duplicate set of vertices. The vertex order of the exported OBJ will be different than the one that was originally loaded into the scene.
- As Morph Target (no world transformations): (OBJ Export only). When checked, this option automatically selects the following two options. Check this option to ensure that the OBJ is exported in its default pose and position.
- Include body part names in polygon groups: (OBJ export only). Exports an OBJ file that is unwelded at group seams. Group and material assignments are also exported.
- Use exact internal names except spaces: (3DS, DXF, Lightwave, OBJ, and VRML formats). When this option is checked, each group in the figure will be appended by its figure number (example: instead of abdomen, the group is listed as abdomen:4).
- Include figure names in polygon groups: (OBJ export only). Prepends group names with Figure x (where x is the figure number assigned by Poser when the figure was loaded into the scene).
- Include existing groups in polygon groups: (OBJ export only). If this option is checked, space names are removed from group names when the OBJ is exported. If this option is not checked, spaces and colons are removed from the group names.
- Preserve existing material names: (OBJ export only). If this option is checked, a figure number will be appended to material names to avoid conflicts in cases where more than one figure is exported at the same time.
- Export Scale Percentage: By default, objects will be exported at 100% Poser scale. Many external 3D modelers require that you scale the model up. Depending on the modeler you use, typical scaling factors scale Poser models up by ten times (1000%) or 100 times (10000%) for sufficient resolution. Enter the desired scaling factor in the field provided.
A Poser model that has been scaled up for use in external modelers will have to be scaled back to Poser size upon reimporting it. For models that are exported from Poser at 1000% (ten times original size), scale it down to 10% on reimport into Poser. For models that are exported from Poser at 10000% (100 times original size), scale down to 1% on reimport into Poser.
