Importing FBX Files
Choose File > Import > FBX to import an FBX file into Poser. The FBX Import Options dialog will prompt you to enter a scale (default is 100%). Press OK to import the FBX file.
Working with Imported FBX Content
You can import FBX content from other sites and then export as FBX with other Poser content.
- After obtaining or creating FBX content from another application, create a new scene in Poser and delete the default figure.
- Choose File > Import > FBX. The Import FBX window prompts you to locate an FBX file on your system.
- After you select the file, click Open. The content appears in your Poser project in its default position.
After you import FBX content into Poser, you should verify the following:
- Mesh (make sure that geometry imported without parts that are missing)
- Ensure that textures are imported correctly, including transparencies on eyes, hair, lashes, and clothing if applicable. Also do test renders to make sure that bump maps work as expected.
- Test joint bending to make sure that the figure bends as expected. Check for weld breaks and mesh distortion. If improvement is needed for bending, use Poser’s Joint Editor to adjust joint centers and weight mapping.
- Verify animation keyframes in the Animation Palette.
- Materials
You can use other tools in Poser to make changes and improvements. For example:
- Use the Group Editor to add or remove groups that improve how the face and body of the character are animated.
- Use the Joint Editor to improve how the character bends.
- Use the Morph tool to change the appearance of the character, or to create phoneme morphs that are compatible with Poser’s Talk Designer
- Use the Talk Designer to make your character speak
- Use the Walk Designer, Animation controls and Animation Palette to create or tweak walk cycles and other movements.
If you make changes, you can then export the character as a new FBX file.
