Render Dimensions

Selecting Render > Render Dimensions brings up the Render Dimensions dialog, which contains settings that allow you to specify the dimensions of your render tab.

The main render window size is displayed in the upper left corner of the Render tab. Clicking this display brings up the Render Dimensions dialog, which contains the following settings:

Render Dimensions options.

Higher resolutions are normally intended for print purposes only. If you intend to print your images, the normal approach is to set the desired print size in inches, and then specify the desired resolution. Poser will multiply the desired print size by the resolution to determine the final image output size in pixels. For example, if you want to print out an image that is 8.5 by 11 inches at 600 PPI (pixels per inch), Poser will render an image that is  5100 x 6600 pixels.

When you open this image in Photoshop or another image editor, the resolution will show as 72 pixels per inch, which is typical for on-screen digital images  To adjust to the correct PPI for printing, choose Image > Image Size.  Uncheck the Resample option in the Image Size dialog and change the PPI setting to 600. The image width and height will then change to show that the image will print out to dimensions of 8.5 inches by 11 inches.

The production frame is determined by the aspect ratio resulting from the output width and height. You can set the production frame to be visible in the Document window’s scene preview area, by selecting Display > Production Frame from the menu bar.
