Smooth

The Smooth method blends the vertices of the fitted clothing to reduce the amount of hard transitions. When you choose the Smooth method, you’ll notice that all vertices are smoothed at maximum value (all appear green). Therefore, if you need to make any changes to Smoothing, it will be to reduce the effect of smoothing where you paint.

Smooth options.

In cases where clothing is modeled in multiple parts, it may be necessary to reduce smoothing in those areas. For example, the shirt we are working on here has a cuff that is separated from the shirt. During smoothing, the cuff breaks away from the sleeve, creating a gap between the two parts. After enabling the paintbrush, the Subtract brush is used to paint the area between the sleeve and the cuff, which prevents the separation from occurring during the smoothing phase. Paint one side, and then use the Mirror feature to copy the weights to the opposite side.

If portions of your model are modeled separately, reduce smoothing between separated parts to prevent them from separating during the smoothing process.
