The Soft Features method is used for areas that are flexible, but which you want to maintain the overall shape as it moves more closely to fit the figure. Examples of soft features are pockets, collars, seam lines, hem lines, folds, wrinkles, and so on.
When you switch to the Soft Features method, you’ll see vertices that are variously colored. Poser takes a “best guess” at the areas where the Soft Features method will be applied by analyzing charges in the polygonal density and changes in the surface normals.

If you want to assign specific areas of the clothing to Soft Features, it will be much easier to do if your clothing object has different material zones in it. For example, if a shirt has separate collar and cuff materials, it will be easy to select them by material and add all vertices in those materials to the Soft Features method.
To do this, click the Paintbrush to open the Vertex Weights palette. Enable the Restrict To option, and then choose Materials > followed by the material name you want to assign to the Soft Features method.
After that you can either use the paintbrush to Add weight to the vertices in that group, or click the Set All button to ensure that all vertices in that selected material are set to 1.
You can set all vertices in a selected material to 1 to add them to the Soft Features group.
Repeat this for other material zones that you want to assign.
