Let’s talk about content! With the Poser 13 release coming next Thursday, March 30th, we are making a lot of changes and updates to the content system. While some of these changes are not really that visible, meaning you don’t see them as a completely new feature in Poser 13, they play a very prominent role under the hood, and that will make it easier for us to implement new features down the line.
As mentioned previously, one prominent change is how we deliver the content, which has also resulted in a smaller installer. Poser has always included a big library of content, and including the entire library was easy when the software was delivered on disks or USB drives, but now that the software is delivered through the internet, we have split the content library into content packs, so users can download the content they need. The content packs are downloaded directly from a Purchases tab found in the Poser Library pane.
As we have mentioned in the past, Poser 13 features a new version of the SuperFly renderer, based on Cycles X. This renderer provides faster render times and better render quality. To take full advantage of the new SuperFly, we have been working hard to update our content materials. This includes updates to all modern Poser figures and the HiveWire Dawn and Dusk figures.
When you start Poser 13, you are greeted with a splash screen where you can choose between different start-up scenes. These can range from a completely empty scene to a full scene. Included content packs or purchased content can also add start-up scenes. Additionally, you’ll be able to define your own start-up scenes, which will be very useful in case you have scenes that you constantly use as starting templates for your projects (lighting templates, background templates, or full scene templates).
Another big change comes in the form of a revamped Walk Designer and Talk Designer. Walk Designer and Talk Designer maps will come as part of each figure’s content pack, while previously they were built into the software. This means each figure will have its own Walk Designer and Talk Designer libraries, meaning that every time you use either module on a Poser figure, you will get amazing results from start.
As you can see, we have taken on various aspects to make sure Poser 13 delivers improved capabilities. And the best part is that this work will also let us add new and improved content in the future!
